We are happy to share the following message from fellow PSOV Member, Terry Lovelette author of Thoughts From a Walk, Down-Back, and In Praise of Eagle Mountain.
Two years ago, it was quite humbling when I received my first box of books. Then more humbling to drop off copies at The Eloquent Page in St. Albans, Vermont. Not something that I considered a possibility for much of my life. Frankly, it took awhile for it all to come together. Yet, there it was and I don’t mind saying that it was somewhat emotional having my project become real. When you care about something, it’s normal for emotions to well up inside. I’m okay with that response.
As prolific spiritual writer and teacher Henri Nouwen once said: “Writing is a process in which we discover what lies in us. The writing itself reveals to us what is alive in us. The deepest satisfaction of writing is precisely that it opens up new spaces within us of which we were not aware before we started to write.”
I certainly don’t pretend to be a writer in the same league as Henri Nouwen. However, I appreciate his perspective and his insight (with regard to the writing process and life in general). In particular, I identify with his assessment of the writing process and I’m grateful to have been able to discover a measure of this truth for myself. The writing experience for my three published books has been enjoyable. When combined with the fulfilling encounters with others, during the publishing process and through book signing events, very meaningful. It has helped me learn more about myself and the world around me.
Central to the book projects, is a mission of fundraising. This objective is a way for me to say thank you to those with a generous spirit who have influenced me along life’s journey. Through their selfless examples, they helped me understand the importance of adding to the common good. Thus far, my little books have reached slightly more than 5,000 readers. Certainly not at a blockbuster rate, but slow and steady growth nonetheless. Throughout the process, we have seen to our fundraising objectives with modest contributions to various charities. An effort that would not be possible without support from my publisher, book designer, readers, independent booksellers, book signing hosts, and those who offered endorsements. Thank you
My hope in publishing “Thoughts From a Walk”, “Down-Back”, and “In Praise of Eagle Mountain”, is that words in my books resonate with others in a meaningful way. That somehow the reader garners an element of inspiration that matters and finds some of the messages helpful in their own journey through life. We all know that life can be difficult at times. It gets a little bit easier when we help each other out.
Thank you for your thoughtful support. I do appreciate it very much.
