A collaboration between the Poetry Society of Vermont and the Jaquith Public Library

Scudder Parker grew up on a family farm in Danville Vt. He has been a Protestant minister, a state senator, a utility regulator, a candidate for Governor, a consultant on energy efficiency and renewable energy and as he enters retirement, a poet. “Throughout my life I have found in poetry a place of reflection, investigation, and sometimes, healing…Now it feels that poetry is the lens through which I see and experience the world.” Scudder’s collection, The Poem of the World, 2025 and his first volume of poetry Safe as Lightning, 2020 are autobiographical. 

Judith Janoo is a long time member and contributing editor for the Poetry Society of Vermont. Judith is an award-winning poet, and Pushcart Prize nominee. Her poetry has appeared in journals including Pedestal Magazine, Fish Anthology, The Pierian, Euphony, Sow’s Ear Poetry Review, and The Bangalore Review, as well as her poetry collections; After Effects, (Finishing Line Press, 2019) and Just This, Kelsay Books, 2023.) Judith’s work is deeply informed by her life in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.
