PSOV is happy to share the following announcement…
Writing Workshop: Poetry and Song of Protest and Witness
Four weeks: Tuesday evenings March 11, 18, 25, and April 1 at 6pm
Location: Somatic Arts Center, 67 Eastern Ave, Suite 301, Saint Johnsbury, VT (Elevator entrance at 301 Pearl St., Level 2)
Join a small writing group for sharing poems and songs that are growing out of this historical moment in America. Each week, Sharon Darrow will give brief examples of songs and poems written in other such moments across the world and through history, as well as suggest a prompt for writing during the session and for the next session. We all have unique voices and together we will give each other strength to exercise our liberty to speak out.
The main objective is to express what we think and feel and to understand how others have done so before us. In the session we will share our writing when we feel comfortable to do so, but it is not mandatory. All are welcome, ages 12 and up.
Cost: Donation to the studio for use of their space ($5-20 suggested). Instruction is free.
Sharon Darrow, author of novels and picture books for children and young adults and whose poems, short stories, interviews, and personal essays for adults have appeared in literary journals and anthologies, taught poetry at Columbia College Chicago, and for over 20 years was a member of the writing faculty of Vermont College of Fine Arts.
