Seeking Nature & Ecology Poems

Laurie D. Morrissey, poetry editor for Applachia recently sent us the following information regarding poetry submissions to American’s longest running journal of mountaineering and conservation. While this is not a PSOV sponsored submission, given the many outdoor enthusiasts and poets of nature writing within our membership, sharing this information would align nicely with the upcoming Poetry Society of Vermont Online Workshop on June 16th (which is currently full), “Poetry of Nature and the Environment” with George Longenecker.

Appalachia is a semiannual journal published by the Appalachian Mountain Club, which includes 6-8 poems per issue. We publish poems that take the reader into the wild, focusing almost exclusively on natural subjects and often suggesting questions of an ecological nature. The poems tend to deal with specific times, places, and events. They are usually simple but telling observations, clearly presented. Shorter poems are preferred, submit 3-5 poems. https://www.outdoors.org/resources/appalachia/

Send poems to ku****@***il.com with attention to: Appalachia poetry editor, Laurie D. Morrissey.

Note: You don’t have to be a member of AMC to submit poems.
