The Poetry Society of Vermont is excited to announce the publication of member Carla Schwartz’s poem, “Impact” in the distinguished poetry journal, Rattle, Spring 2025. Rattle’s Spring 2025 issue features what might be the most dynamic form in contemporary poetry—the haibun.

“What haibun writing means to me: I have been writing haibun for at least four years now, but more recently, I have written more and more haibun. I have found reading Haibun: A Writer’s Guide very helpful. I really enjoy all aspects of the haibun—the prose narrative, the integration/juxtaposition of the haiku, and the titling. I also enjoy experimenting with the positioning of the haiku in the poem, as well as potentially with the form of the ‘prose’ section.” ~ Carla Schwartz
