Sunday Afternoon Poetry at the Jaquith

Mary L. Collins
I have been a participant in Poem City in Montpelier and Poem Town in Poultney and have been published in various magazines and anthologies including the Green Mountains Review, an anthology of San Diego poets, and New Observations Magazine. I am also a columnist for the News & Citizen and Stowe Reporter. I received a BFA in Writing from Johnson State College.
Rick Agran
Rick began teaching at Otter Lake Conservation School, an experiential outdoor learning center 12 years after he attended in 6th grade, and he’s never been the same after seeing the whole world as a classroom. Rick grew up in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Washington. He studied writing, literature, teaching, psychology, filmmaking, metalsmithing, weather, journalism, and sociolinguistics at Sarah Lawrence College, Missouri School of Journalism, and the University of New Hampshire. He has an MA in English and an MFA in Creative Writing. He authored two books: Pumpkin Shivaree and Crow Milk. He produces weekly radio programs about poetry and the literary arts at Central Vermont Community Radio, WGDR.org. He works as a teacher and audio documentarian with WGDR Indie Kingdom Youth Radio which teaches young people how to use their voices, gather news and images, and to craft poems, stories, and memoirs for radio. He works for the Vermont and NH Arts Councils and the Children’s Literacy Foundation as a poet in the schools.
The Poetry Society of Vermont and the Jaquith Public Library announce Sunday Afternoon Poetry at the Jaquith from 2pm to 4pm. Each monthly poetry reading will feature two Poetry Society of Vermont poets, with the exception of a special reading by Nadine Budbill on May 17th. In addition to the Jaquith Library Staff, hosts for the Sunday afternoon poetry readings will be PSOV board members, David Hartnett and Elizabeth McCarthy. The readings are free and open to the public. Contact the Jaquith Public Library staff at ja******************@***il.com or David if you have any questions.
