Mary Rose Dougherty is the editor of The Mountain Troubadour. Through her full-service writing business, Lotus Writing Practice, she offers writing, coaching, editing, and workshop facilitation for poets, writers, and website owners—anyone seeking to better tell their story. Her interest in the therapeutic value of poetry led her to collaborate with mindfulness practitioner, Becky Widschwenter, to bring Embodied Poetry Community Workshops to schools, mental health providers, and senior centers. Dougherty’s work has been published in Calyx, PoemCity, Shoreline: Poetry and Prose, Explorations of Mental Illness, Calliope, Yankee, and VTDigger. Her awards include the 2020 and 2021 Corinne Eastman Davis Memorial Award and the Artistic Merit Award from The Writer’s Circle in Warwick, RI, judged by New Hampshire Poet Laureate Patricia Fargnoli. She has an MFA in Writing from Vermont College and has completed residencies at the Vermont Studio Center and The Frost Place's Poetry Seminar in Franconia, NH.
