Elizabeth McCarthy lives with her husband in an old farmhouse in Walden, Vermont. Retired from teaching, Elizabeth turned to poetry when the pandemic closed the world down and time became a windfall. She then joined the Poetry Society of Vermont and the online poetry group, The Lockdown Poets of Aberdeen, Scotland.

Elizabeth has four collections of poetry, including; The Old House (self-published) and Winter Vole (Finishing Line Press 2022) and two recent chapbooks; Hard Feelings (Finishing Line Press 2024) and Wild Silence (Kelsay Books 2024). Elizabeth enjoys running with her husband along the dirt roads of the Northeast Kingdom where they train for events in the Vermont Senior Games and other national & local races. Many of her poems are found during those long slow runs.
