Lilac Bush with Snow

Voices of Winter

so much sparrow song
in the shape of bush —
     falling snow

creak of bare limb
against bare limb —
     another raven

pelting sleet —
the only sound
     a “shush-sh-sh”

~ Elizabeth Hazen
