Poetry for Perseverance 22nd

Rabbit&Wolf Poetry for Perseverance

I have been trying to think of a way that I can help with flood relief that doesn’t involve physical or financial labor (neither of which I can offer).
Poetry. I have poetry. WE have poetry.
Can we use our voices for something good within so much sadness, grief, and anger?
I don’t think it’s completely bonkers, I think we can do it.
I want to try.

More Summer Events

notes from our President Bianca Amira Zanella

We are co-sponsoring Sundog Poetry’s Poetry & Justice For All event on July 28, 2023 at 6 pm at Karma Bird House, and hope you will join us there! Two wonderful events this summer in Burlington, Vermont; August 12th –PSOV Summer Generative Writing Festival and for our more southern folks, I’d like to highlight the Literary Festival, also on August 12th, being held in Poultney by Stone Valley Arts and PSOV Member David Mook, in case folks aren’t able to travel so north, this is a wonderful opportunity. (Reach out if you’d like to discuss carpool options for any event!) Our intention this year was to organize our events in general hubs across the state where the majority of our members reside so we could improve accessibility and connection, so look for a more southern offering this Fall. Between now and then, we’ll be sending out a member survey seeking your input and responses. For now, we look forward to seeing you along the shores of Lake Champlain.

Register Here for the Summer Generative Writing Festival.

McCadden will also be the guest poet for the Poetry Society of Vermont’s Summer Generative Writing Festival on August 12th at Rock Point Center, Burlington, Vt.

Kerrin McCadden is the author of American Wake (2021), a finalist for both the New England Book Award and the Vermont Book Award; and Landscape with Plywood Silhouettes (2014), winner of the Vermont Book Award and the New Issues Poetry Prize.

Summer Readings at the Front

Thunk of paddle rested on gunnels

small ripples soundless to our ears

we sit beside our ordinary lives

stopped

feel the silence of our absence

our memories already gathered

to a larger memory we drift two loons

dive for bass in branches of a toppled

yellow birch as if they’ve always been here.
