The Mountain Troubadour

The Poetry Society of Vermont annually publishes a print chapbook of members' poems in The Mountain Troubadour. Society members receive one complimentary copy with membership dues, and may submit poems annually to be considered for publication. Deadline is February 14th.

Submission requires membership. Deadline for sending poems is February 14. Submissions must be titled poems of not more than 40 lines each including stanza breaks and title. Send a maximum of three poems or five haiku for consideration. (Haiku need not be titled.) If sending a combination of longer poems and haiku, there cannot be more than three pieces in total. Poems longer than 40 lines will not be considered.

Members may also submit one previously-published poem or one translation, labeled as such. A published work should have already gone through a juried process — that is, should have been selected by an editor of a journal or anthology. Please include the place and date of first publication. A translation must be from a known author’s poem that has appeared in printed form. Please include the original poem and poet’s name along with the English version and translating poet’s name. Translators are responsible for all legal requirements such as copyright. Self-published items must be submitted in the normal way and will go through the selection process.

All poems must be submitted electronically. No simultaneous submissions. Send one to three poems (five if only haiku) in a single attachment or in the body of an email to: troubadoursubmissions@poetrysocietyofvermont.org

Members receive a copy of The Mountain Troubadour as part of their membership. For a subscription or an additional copy, send $12 to Subscription Manager Betty Gaechter, 134 Hitzel Terrace, Rutland, VT 05701.
