SUMMER CONTESTS


PSOV SUMMER 2021 CONTEST!

 DEADLINE TO BE ANNOUNCED

 

 

PLEASE READ THESE RULES CAREFULLY

  • Dues must have been paid to be eligible to submit poems.
  • Previously-published poems are ineligible for submission.
  • Only one poem may be submitted for each of the six Summer Contest awards.
  • Each submitted poem must have a title and one contest designation.
    • Put all poems in one attachment.
    • Email to summercontests@poetrysocietyofvermont.org.
    • Subject line: PSOV Summer Contests.
    • Body of the email must contain your name and a list of the titles of all the poems being submitted, with the particular award the poem is being entered for.
    • Submit one poem per contest.
    • Do not include your name or any personal identifiers in poem files.
    • You will receive email confirmation of your entries.

 

 

SUBMIT:

 

FORMAT: Poems must be in Word .doc or .docx, 12-pt. Times New Roman, single-spaced.

 

LENGTH: See the individual contest rules below for line limits.

 

For each award, judges will name one winner, receiving a $50 prize, and one honorable mention. Both winning poems and honorable mentions will be published in the 2022 issue of The Mountain Troubadour.

SUMMER CONTESTS AWARDS

 

1.)    MARY MARGARET AUDETTE MEMORIAL AWARD: Light or humorous verse, 32 line limit.

 

2.)    J. RICHARD BARRY MEMORIAL AWARD: A poem with a Vermont or country theme, 32 line limit.

 

3.)    MARIAN GLEASON MEMORIAL AWARD: A poem in any style or subject, no more than 20 line limit.

 

4.)     GOLDSTEIN MEMORIAL AWARD: A poem with any theme 40 line limit, including title and spaces.

5.)       LAURA J. SPOONER MEMORIAL AWARD: Love poem, 40 line limit, including title and spaces.

6.)       CHRIS WHITE MEMORIAL AWARD: Poem relating to science, science fiction, or math, 25 line limit.
