FIRST CALL — FALL LUNCHEON/WORKSHOP — SATURDAY, OCT 6th  2018

The Capitol Plaza 100 Main St, Montpelier

Our Annual Fall Luncheon & Workshop will be held at Capitol Plaza Hotel & Conference Center (Ethan Allen Room)—Saturday, October 6th  2018. The Capitol Plaza is easy to reach in Montpelier and we hope to see you all there! Detailed directions will be in the Second Call.

Right now we need your POEMS! Please send as soon as you can—see details below.

Poet-teacher Joyce Thomas will be our PSOV Workshop Critic for the first time, recommended enthusiastically by several of our members. Here is a snippet from her bio online at the Castleton University site: “Among the most published of faculty at Castleton, Thomas has written a study of the fairy tale, Inside the Wolf's Belly, and a collection of poetry, Skins, not to mention various articles. Her poems have appeared in both anthologies and journals such as BluelineAmerican Review, and JAMA: Journal of the American Medical Association.… Her passion for words is evidenced not only in her poetry but it also surfaces in her teaching, and in her interest in fiction. Currently, she is putting together a second collection of poetry while also trying her hand at writing short stories.

We are looking for a Time-keeper (formerly known as ‘Workshop Chair’); the readers will be announced in the Second Call. As usual, there will be a morning Council Meeting from 9:30 – 11:30; please join us if you wish and please contact any board member if you have concerns or ideas to share! The Luncheon will follow at noon, and the Workshop will run from about 1:15 to 3:30, with time to talk with Joyce afterwards and have her sign a few books for us.

PLEASE SEND YOUR POEMS ASAP—DEADLINE IS MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17th

Send one poem, any style, any topic, but please limit your poem to 40 lines, including title and all breaks. Use Times New Roman 12, SINGLE SPACED.
